When we made the decision to stop working for other ranches on a full time basis and strike out on our own, we needed a financial backbone to build our ranching operation around. Since we had been highly successful showing cattle for several of the most influential breeding programs in the Hereford breed for over 25 years, we decided to capitalize on our strongest area of expertise. A custom fitting service was the most practical and logical choice.
Our fitting service got its' true beginning when we leased the show facilities at Hawley Land & Cattle Company in Cottage Grove, Oregon. At that time a majority of our client base was located in the states of Oregon and Washington. As our fitting service began to grow this regional client base expanded to include the entire intermountain west and beyond. We are now proud to say that we have successfully shown cattle for breeders in 27 states, 3 Canadian Provinces, Argentina, and Australia.

In 1985, we moved our entire cattle operation, including our fitting service, to its' present location here in Susanville. We have devoted 40 acres around our home to the development of show and sale cattle. In the center is our show barn, which is surrounded by pens, runs, traps, and small pastures. We have had as many as 104 head of show and sale cattle on feed at one time. Over the past 40 years, we have had the privilege to develop and exhibit 25 National Champions. These champions include the 2002 National Reserve Grand Champion Bull, TCW Pathfinder 23C 18K, 2003 National Reserve Grand Champion Bull, D&M 53H Kreedence 003K, 2004 National Grand Champion Bull, BRL Call 100L and the 2004 National Reserve Grand Champion Female, R&R Lacey 2028ET.

The show ring should be looked at and evaluated as an advertising, promotional and marketing tool. It is a huge "show window" for not only the individual breeder, but also the entire Hereford breed. It is where friendships are born, deals made and transactions consummated. The show ring creates a unique opportunity for every breeder, large or small, to compare the production of their own personal breeding programs with other ranches from throughout the country. It brings out the competitive spirit in all of us.
